TAXPAYERS, LOWER YOUR TAXES AND SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS!

TAX CREDIT: HOW DOES IT WORK?

A Tax Credit, which is the dollar-for dollar reduction of your tax liability, is better than a tax deduction, which only reduces your taxable income before taxes are computed.

Instead of sending all your state taxes to the State of Arizona, you can make a contribution to a public school. A.R.S. §43-1089.01 allows taxpayers a TAX CREDIT  up to $200.00 for “Single” or “Head of Household” tax filers and up to $400.00 for “Married Couple Filing a Joint Return” when contributing to EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES in public schools. This gives you the opportunity to help your local school. The tax credit is available to all taxpayers, regardless of whether they have children in school. It would be advisable to consult your tax advisor regarding your specific tax status.

What is an EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY?

Extracurricular activity means any optional, non-credit educational or competitive school sponsored activity that supplements the education program of the school. Activities such as sports, visual and performing arts, field trips, outdoor education or character education programs can be funded with tax credit money. Extracurricular activities do not include any events that are recreational, amusement or tourist activities.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
You may select which school and which program you would like to support. The amount of the tax credit you take does not have to be for the total allowance. You can make a difference in our schools with just $50.00, $75.00, or $100.00. In addition, the credit may be split between one or more schools and/or one or more programs.

HOW CAN I TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE TAX CREDIT? UPDATE

Complete the attached form and return to the school of your choice by April 15, 2020 or mail to the District Office prior to April 15, 2020 in order to take it off your State of Arizona taxes at the time you file for 2019. Arizona Tax Credit Donation Form

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: What is the "Peer Mentor Class?"  A: Peer Mentor or "PMC" classes are fully licensed, smaller four-day per week programs offering discounted tuition to typical (non-disabled) students.  Class size is limited to no more than 16 students, and half of the students in the class are typical students or "peer mentors," and the other half have mild developmental disabilities. This proven model encourages both the typical students and the students with special needs to learn how to be friends and to help each other in a nurturing environment with extra support.  Each of the two classes has a credentialed teacher-facilitator with one or more assistants, and a Special Education certified supervising teacher directs and assists the students with disabilities in both classes.

Q: I filled out the online pre-registration form - am I registered?  A: If you filled out the pre-registration form online but haven't been contacted, please get in touch with our preschool registrar.  Your child is not fully registered until you have made an appointment to complete the registration process at our office.

Q: I registered in Eleyo, why haven't I been contacted?  A: Eleyo is the program used to create payment accounts and to track student attendance, and does not register anyone for preschool.  To register, start by contacting our preschool registrar.

Q: What is the monthly tuition rate? A: Rates for 2024-2025 have not yet been finalized (as of 2/14/24), but an increase is expected which compensates for inflation.  For current fees, please see the "Fees and Tuition" section below and in the parent handbook.  Tuition is billed monthly and is based on the average number of school days per month; The rates are the same each month regardless of how many school days there are in a month.

Q: What documents will I need in order to complete registration?  A: To finalize registration you will need: Parent/guardian's photo ID (such as driver's license), proof of residency (such as a recent gas or electric bill) and immunization records. Also, within 30 days of registering we must receive a copy of the child's birth certificate.  Please note that your registration will not be final until you have created an online payment account through Eleyo.

Q: Why are we charged the same amount for months with fewer days due to fall break and winter break?  A: In response to feedback from families who want to budget a consistent amount each month, tuition is calculated based on an average of 18 days per month (180 days over 10 months).  You won't be charged less in "short" months, but you also aren't charged more in "long" months.  The number of program days in each month for 2023-2024: Aug:19,  Sept:19, Oct:17, Nov:18, Dec:16, Jan:16, Feb:19, Mar:16, Apr:22, May:18.  Peer Mentor Class tuition is also based on the average number of days offered per month: 14.7 days.
