TAXPAYERS, LOWER YOUR TAXES AND SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS!

TAX CREDIT: HOW DOES IT WORK?

A Tax Credit, which is the dollar-for dollar reduction of your tax liability, is better than a tax deduction, which only reduces your taxable income before taxes are computed.

Instead of sending all your state taxes to the State of Arizona, you can make a contribution to a public school. A.R.S. §43-1089.01 allows taxpayers a TAX CREDIT  up to $200.00 for “Single” or “Head of Household” tax filers and up to $400.00 for “Married Couple Filing a Joint Return” when contributing to EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES in public schools. This gives you the opportunity to help your local school. The tax credit is available to all taxpayers, regardless of whether they have children in school. It would be advisable to consult your tax advisor regarding your specific tax status.

What is an EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY?

Extracurricular activity means any optional, non-credit educational or competitive school sponsored activity that supplements the education program of the school. Activities such as sports, visual and performing arts, field trips, outdoor education or character education programs can be funded with tax credit money. Extracurricular activities do not include any events that are recreational, amusement or tourist activities.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
You may select which school and which program you would like to support. The amount of the tax credit you take does not have to be for the total allowance. You can make a difference in our schools with just $50.00, $75.00, or $100.00. In addition, the credit may be split between one or more schools and/or one or more programs.

Emergency Preparedness

Standard response protocol

The safety and security of all LESD Schools students and staff is our highest priority. All district staff members receive training in a variety of emergency scenarios.

In accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.), 15-341.A.31, LESD Schools' emergency response plans have been developed by school and district teams to ensure that all schools meet emergency response preparedness guidelines established by the Arizona Department of Education, and the Arizona Division of Emergency Management.

Lockdown

Litchfield School District’s schools routinely conduct lockdown drills to practice for situations in which students and staff should stay behind locked doors for safety reasons. On rare occasions, a school has gone into an actual lockdown. Most often these occur due to active police investigations occurring in close proximity to a school.

Litchfield School District's highest priority is the safety of its students and staff. Staff has worked closely with our local law enforcement agencies to develop best practices for handling emergency situations.

When a school goes into lockdown the school will:

  1. Secure all buildings
  2. Account for all persons
  3. Communicate pertinent information over the course of the incident.

Guidance During a Lockdown

Do not call the school: Parents will be notified via the District emergency notification system of a lockdown event (please make sure your child’s school has your current cell phone number on file). The school may not be able to answer phones during a lockdown as the telephone system must be available for emergency communications. Once the school is secure and information is verified, a message will be sent to families. In the event that the situation is resolved before communication can be sent, parents will still receive notification.

Do not come to the school: Once a school is in lockdown, they are unable to open the doors for anyone, including parents. Persons gathering outside a school put themselves at risk, and can delay the emergency response, while police work to apprehend a suspect. Driving to a school during a lockdown can create a traffic jam preventing first responders from reaching the school in a timely manner. In a true emergency situation, students will be relocated to an alternate site for parent reunification.
