TAXPAYERS, LOWER YOUR TAXES AND SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS!

TAX CREDIT: HOW DOES IT WORK?

A Tax Credit, which is the dollar-for dollar reduction of your tax liability, is better than a tax deduction, which only reduces your taxable income before taxes are computed.

Instead of sending all your state taxes to the State of Arizona, you can make a contribution to a public school. A.R.S. §43-1089.01 allows taxpayers a TAX CREDIT  up to $200.00 for “Single” or “Head of Household” tax filers and up to $400.00 for “Married Couple Filing a Joint Return” when contributing to EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES in public schools. This gives you the opportunity to help your local school. The tax credit is available to all taxpayers, regardless of whether they have children in school. It would be advisable to consult your tax advisor regarding your specific tax status.

What is an EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY?

Extracurricular activity means any optional, non-credit educational or competitive school sponsored activity that supplements the education program of the school. Activities such as sports, visual and performing arts, field trips, outdoor education or character education programs can be funded with tax credit money. Extracurricular activities do not include any events that are recreational, amusement or tourist activities.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
You may select which school and which program you would like to support. The amount of the tax credit you take does not have to be for the total allowance. You can make a difference in our schools with just $50.00, $75.00, or $100.00. In addition, the credit may be split between one or more schools and/or one or more programs.

The Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek supports LESD with the donation of ChromeBooks to students at Corte Sierra Elementary School.

The Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek (GYPC) values strong schools and strong communities. This thriving service club prioritizes our districts and focuses on supporting Title I schools where children from low-income families compose at least forty percent of enrollment.

Most recently, GYPC Rotary donated 27 ChromeBooks to students to our Falcon family at Corte Sierra Elementary School. This generous gift was made possible by grant support from the United Parcel Service (UPS).

Principal Tanya Rotteger says, “In light of this global pandemic, our Falcons are relying on technology to protect their mental health and to achieve academic goals. Especially in light of the pandemic, many families simply cannot afford adequate devices for all of their children.”

In addition to critical technology for students, the GYPC Rotary Club has also raised money this year for emergency supplies for Title I school nurses, STEM education funding, and holiday boxes with food and books for families in need.

Rotary President Joan Smith says ”Schools are working against all odds to meet the diverse needs of their students. We are committed to supporting quality education in our community.”

Superintendent Jodi Gunning says that community support is key to Litchfield Elementary School District’s success. “Community partnerships strengthen over time and provide a base of trust and consistency for our schools. The generosity of our Rotary members is astounding and impacts local children who really need an extra boost in life.”

“Rolling up our sleeves and going to work for the community is the essence of Rotary volunteer service,” said Smith. “We actively engage in the community on a variety of fronts where needs are identified and our time and commitment can make a difference.”

“Our club is dedicated to “Service Above Self” and we partner with 1.2 million other Rotarians around the world who are committed to truth, fairness, goodwill, friendship and enriching communities,” said Smith.

The Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek currently meets every Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM by Zoom. Email goodyearrotaryclub@gmail.com for Zoom meeting information.
